Hi. This is probably my first write up for a blog. Here i would to share my experience regard to the COMPAQ FP5315 Flat screen monitor. The problem i got for this monitor is mainly due to the flickering screen. It is actually flickering at the beginning and then, after a while when you press ON button, it will come out with white screen and then it will turn blank/black screen. But after you try to turn ON and OFF again a few times, then it will come alive. But after like a month i been encountered this problem, major problem happened. The monitor won't turn ON at all.

I have no choice by opening the back of monitor. But, first of all, you have to make sure that the monitor has been turning OFF. Let it be off for like 5 minutes. This is to ensure that all the components inside the monitor has been fully discharged.
1. Unscrew all the screws at the back of the monitor.
2. Please ensure that you handle all the cables gently.
3. Make sure that you remember how to put back all the connector to where it is if you disconnect all the connector.
4. Take a pictures if necessary just in case if you forget the connection of the cables.
5. After you open the plastic and aluminum cover, you will see 2 separate circuit box. The green is driver board and the brown colour is power board.
6. Unscrews the the power board screws. There are 4 of its.
7. At the board, you will probably see there is a like a burning area by a broken diode. But, before you replace the diode, you also probably need to check all the polarize electrolytic capacitor from any unusual look at the capacitor.

8. First thing that you need to do is to replace all the electrolytic capacitors if you see there is hump on the top of the capacitor. Normal capacitor should flat on the top of it. But if you see there is a hump, you have to find the exact same value of the capacitors and replace it (Make sure that you apply the correct orientation of the capacitor to the board).
9. Sure to do this you need a soldering station.
10. Then, after replaced. Give it a try by put it all back together into one piece.
11. If work, then congratulations!!!!!

Hope this will help... If not working. I got some different idea that might be the problem.

P/S: It is not so hard to try. Why you have to pay a lot of money if you can repair it yourself....
